I Met My Dopplegänger In Fiction

Dopple-what? Da-pul-gang-er. I met mine this past week in a book called Life From Scratch by Melissa Ford. Mifsit Mom added this book to my kindle a few months ago, because she thought I would enjoy it as a light read. I have been so busy with work that reading has been the last thing on my mind. Until this weekend. And now I have a Dopplegänger.

Maybe you’ve experienced this at some point. You meet someone, you have so much in common it’s almost impossible, and then you’re convinced you were separated at birth. Or that your souls are somehow connected and you were meant to find each other. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I found that person in a book. The main character is a divorcee (so is yours truly), who decides to “find herself” (what late 20-something-year-old woman hasn’t done this at one point?), and begins a blog (hers is food, mine is photography…small detail).

But what’s more amazing is the emotional similarities I have to this character. I feel like I’m reading a diary about myself that someone else has written! Weird. VERY weird. Am I crazy dear readers? Have you ever experienced this before with a book?
